“ I'm not usually a sweets person but I knew I had to try a cannoli while visiting New York, and where better to try? Came here around noon on a Saturday, and there was a small line. The display cases were filled with the most beautiful desserts that were all picture-perfect. I'll definitely need to be back to try more desserts. I got the pistachio cannoli. For nearly $5, I had high hopes for this -- and expectations were exceeded! It was very big and deceptively filling. Other cannolis I've had in the past had too thick of a shell or overly sweet cream that made them not my favorite, but this one fell in neither of those pitfalls. The nuts were such a great addition of flavor and crunch, and the cream was delightfully sweet to complement the crunchy shell. The cream was more thick and not as fluffy, which made the whole treat more filling. It took me a while to get through all of it, but I was sad when it was gone. A great dessert experience! ”

“ I got an Oreo Cheesecake Bite and it was so, so good... I was picking up a 7-inch black forest cake for my boss that day, which was $35 with the personalized writing on the top. That's actually pretty dang good for NYC. Pies were $50 around Thanksgiving, so yeah. Also, the bakery itself is so charming, totally worth the trip to East Village. I'm hoping to try the sit-down cafe soon! ”

“ Wonderful, warm, and family run business that deserves all of it's happy guests. From when we order at the counter to when we decide to chill in the cafe side, it's always been a good time. Our favorite baked goods are the lobster tail (with bavarian or hazelnut cream), the mini lobster tail (only available on weekends), the strawberry shortcake mini pastry, and the lemon square. You can't go wrong with those. Oh and the strawberry mille feuille cake. The cafe itself is super vibey--a great place to catchup with friends if you're the boisterous type--they offer a full assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages, with or without alcohol, and all their pastries delivered straight to your table. Be mindful, as ordering takeout pastries at the counter does not allow you a seat at the cafe, you must be seated and then order with a server. The cafe section on the weekend is rather noisy so you will likely have to raise your voice over others if you want a conversation--I came in here in hopes of getting some relaxing reading done but was rather overstimulated. I plan to return back in some time on a less busy day of the week to see if it's an appropriate place for a more tame catchup or a setting for reading/catching up on some work. Overall cozy and boisterous environment with wonderful pastries at a semi-affordable price. The coffee (latte) here was terrible, but that's kind of to be expected at a big place like this not known for that. ”

“ What a charming spot -- love a place that is both beautiful and historically significant! Family owned for five generations and have been operating in NYC for over 130 years. We came here for a sweet treat with a group of six and were able to be seated immediately (there was a line to order at the to-go counter). The dining space is a bit tight but there is a beautiful ceiling and tinted mirrors that adds a really cool feeling. Service was good. I was impressed by the huge menu and selection of italian baked goods and desserts and drinks (coffee and alcohol). I personally got the blood orange tart which was amazing. I believe everyone needs to spend at least $5 for sitdown. Would love to come back again and explore more items on the menu. ”

“ The Joanne's passion is my favorite. It's seasonal, citrusy and coconutty. Some times it gets so busy in here you need to grab a number. There is a comfortable cafe like, sit down area in the back where you can enjoy a cappuccino with the dessert of your choice. For a dessert place, stays open decently late until 11 or so. Other standouts are the tiramisu and cannolis. ”

“ This historic bakery should be visited by everyone. I have been going here for years & have yet to have a thing that was not good. From their cannoli, cookies, cakes. You won't be disappointed with anything you try. It's been in service for this long for a reason & I hope they stay open for 100 more years. Most people go for just a quick pick up but they have a beautiful dine in area if you want to grab a seat for a sweet snack & some good coffee. The service is always on point & a ton of friendly staff. A nyc staple & a must try if you're in the area. ”

“ Hands down, Veniero's is the best if not one of the best Italian bakeries in the city. I've been here countless number of times but this review will cover two recent visits where I picked up items to go. We ordered a slice of New York Style cheese cake, a pistachio canoli, a chocolate canoli, rainbow cookie cake, and some rainbow cookies. I was told by my friend who is a big fan of rainbow cookies that it was one of the best that they've had because each color of the rainbow in the cookie is a different color not because of food coloring but because of different flavors. In another visit, I order Sicilian style cheese cake, New York Style cheese cake with strawberry and New York style cheese cake with chocolate. All were very great, although I think we prefer the New York style over the Sicilian style. The service was fairly quick. It's definitely a spot you have to check out if you are visiting the city. ”
